Weddings and Waste, Shaitaan’s bait

The teachings of the Sunnah as encapsulated In the Hadith  form a beautiful pattern of life  for Muslims – a pattern which the Qur’aan extols  in the following terms:

“Most certainly  there is for you (Believers) a beautiful pattern of life in the Messenger of Allah, for  those who have hope in Allah and the Last Day, and who remember Allah  abundantly.”

This holy and beautiful Sunnah covers every aspect of every sphere  of the lives of Muslim. In this article we propose to look at just one aspect. The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that the most blessed marriage is the one which involves the least expense. This is one Sunnah which has been totally expunged from the lives of Muslims. The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that the revival of a Sunnah is  rewarded with the rewards of a hundred martyrs.

 Being trapped in the material world and following western norms and culture, Muslims display  very little interest in the simple teachings of the Deen and the advices of the Hadith. In view of this lamentable tendency,  we present here some observations of westerners which are an apt commentary on the wasteful weddings of our community, and also it corroborates the eternal truth of  the  Deen of Islam although such corroboration is not necessary for sincere Muslims for practically implementing the teachings of the Sunnah.

 Meghan Welsh says:  

 1. “Guys investing between $2,000 and $4,000 on an engagement ring were 1.3 times more likely to get divorced compared with the more frugal fellows…….”

 2.  “For both sexes, spending more than $20,000 on the wedding ups the odds of divorce by 3.5 times……..  For the best odds, though, keep the festivities to less than $1000.”

 3.  “Before and after, there’s the bachelor/bachelorette party, the rehearsal dinner and the day-after brunch. There’s the photo booth, which is a definite necessity these days……

‘The whole thing has gotten out of hand.”, Sociologist and sexologist  Dr.Pepper Schwartz says of what some have come to refer to as the “wedding-industrial complex”

 Yet until Emory University economics professors Andrew Francis and Hugo Mialon decided to organize a study last year, no one had paused to question whether this out-of-control spending was having an impact on, well, the actual marriage.

 “Advertising has fuelled the norm that spending large amounts on engagement rings and weddings is an indication of commitment or is helpful for a marriage to be successful,” the researchers wrote in an email – an assumption their work debunked.

 Francis and Mialon say one possible explanation is that post-wedding debt stokes marital tensions.   ………….”The focus is not on the relationship and the long term commitment”, says Kim Horn, after almost three decades of planning weddings……

 The ultimate message seems to be, keep your big day big, but shrink the per-guest price tag if you want the years that follow to be just as fulfilling.”  (End of report)

 These are the observations of  intelligent non-Muslim  researchers. The “out of control spending”  mentioned in the research article  is better described by the Qur’aan as ‘tabtheer’ which is an act of shaitaan. Says the Qur’aan: “Do not squander recklessly (tabtheer), for  verily, the squanderers are the brothers  of the shayaateen, and shaitaan unto his Creator was most ungrateful.”

 Muslims have more  wasteful and haraam customs than those pointed out in the research paper. Many  evil, wasteful customs and undignified, morally debasing customs were inherited from Hinduism and other non-Muslim cultures. The notoriety of wedding waste does not cease with the ending of the evil festivities. It permeates the  entire  marriage which is placed  on a wrong, satanic footing from its very inception. With satanic squandering (tabtheer) comes the wrath and curse of Allah Ta’ala. The Barakah which settles on a simple marriage is eliminated from the very beginning of the extravagant satanically inspired wedding affair conducted  for the sake of ostentation and pride.  The evils of the first day beset the whole life of the marriage. Much of the misery which ruins marriages is the consequence of organizing the wedding in flagrant violation of all the commands and tenets of the Deen.

Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) informed us that “Nikah is half of Imaan”. Nikah should therefore spur the couple to greater heights of piety and spirituality. But, sad  to say, the aftermath of today’s weddings is the direct opposite.  Wasteful, satanic weddings have an extremely negative, in fact, destructive impact on the married life of those who were the victims of such satanism. Soon after the   evil dust of the haraam wedding  function has settled on the marital couple,  the evil consequences of discord, incompatibility, distrust, impatience, infidelity, intolerance, injustice,  abuse of rights, etc. display their fangs. The marriage, instead of  being a happy holy bond bringing about  a closer relationship with Allah Ta’ala, is ruined with the misfortunes of shaitaaniyat introduced from day one into what was supposed to have been a sacred bond.

 Be informed that the products of this company are not halaal. All meat products processed by non-Muslim  companies are Haraam notwithstanding the possession of any ‘halaal’ certificates  in  their possession, and regardless of the entity which is guilty of issuing  ‘halaal’ certificates.

 The MJC has acted recklessly and  without any consideration for  the Shariah in its haraam issuance of a ‘halaal’ certificate to a non-Muslim processor of meat products. ‘Halaal’ certificates have become a lucrative  trading operation for these unscrupulous  certificate vendors. Never be misled into deception by ‘halaal’ certificates and ‘halaal’ logos appearing on the  meat products of non-Muslims.

 Monetary  designs and mercenary attitudes have constrained the  ‘halaal’ certificate purveyors to cast aside the Law of Allah Ta’ala and the  moral and spiritual interests and progress of the Muslim community. 

 The National Ifta Department of UUCSA had some time ago issued the Fatwa  of Hurmat  (Prohibition) on the  ostrich meat processed by the afore-named company. Furthermore, the MJC  has been expelled from the United Ulama Council of South Africa due to its intransigence and  satanic  insistence  on providing kuffaar companies with ‘halaal’ certificates.

QUESTIONS

Question

Is it permissible for a lady to go with her nabaaligh son on a shopping spree with a tuc-tuc? 

(A tuc-tuc is a two-seater  scooter in which two persons sit behind the driver)

The answer given by Mufti Zubayr Bhayat of Darul Ihsaan over the radio was as follows:  “Yes, this will be permissible because a tuc-tuc is only a means of transport.”  Please comment on this disturbing ‘fatwa’.

Answer

Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) has instructed Muslims to seek fatwa from their own hearts and conscience. There are many simple –extremely simple – issues which do not require fatwas from Ulama for understanding the rulings. Hence, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:

“Seek a fatwa from your heart.”

 Slight reflection will confirm the following factors involved in the act mentioned in the question:

• The emergence of the woman from her home without valid pressing need.
• Driving in a means of transport in which she sits in very close proximity to a ghair mahram (a non-Muslim in most, if not all cases) almost on top of his back staring at him throughout the journey.
• Browsing in a mall/supermarket/hypermarket in a state of free-intermingling  of men and women.

It will be apparent to every straight-thinking Muslim who is sincere in the desire to follow the Deen that it is not permissible for a woman to travel in a tuc-tuc in the manner mentioned in the question. Whether her son is nabaaligh or baaligh is of no significance. It remains haraam for her to sit with a ghair mahram in the constricted space of a tuc-tuc, and it remain haraam for her to leave her home for the purpose mentioned in the question.

 Our Mufti Z. Bhayat has undoubtedly erred. He surely did not think before speaking and misguiding the questioner and others who were listening.

Question

Can a woman wear  any colour cloak or abaya?

Mufti Zubayr Bhayat responded:  “There will be no problem in wearing any colour of the rainbow colours as this is a rainbow nation.” Please comment on this disturbing answer.

Answer

It is sad when Muftis have become sources of misguidance instead of being the beacons of hidaayat which they were in bygone times.  The lady  had most certainly  asked about wearing abayas outside the home, not inside the house. It is not permissible for a woman to wear bright, attractive colours outside the home. Her abaya/burqah/jilbaab must be of a dull, unattractive colour. Wearing bright, attractive colours defeats the very purpose of  the Jilbaab. Bright colour outside the home is nugatory of Hijaab. The Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) is very clear on the  type of garment a woman should wear when constrained by circumstances to emerge from the home.

 Mufti Zubayr’s ‘rainbow’ answer displays mental serfdom. It shows that he is a victim of non-Muslim indoctrination, hence he ludicrously   sought to render the Shariah subservient  to the ideas of the non-Muslim rulers. In so doing, he  shows that he has abandoned the Trust which Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) has entrusted to the Ulama. The Muslim community is  part of the  Ummah of Islam. It has no truck with any ‘rainbow’ concept. Muslims are an Islamic community fettered to the Shariah. What  relationship is there between a simple mas’alah of the Shariah and the ‘rainbow’ nation? The Shariah is not subservient to the ‘rainbow’ nation. Issues  in conflict with the Shariah, compelled on Muslims by the rainbow nation, are beyond our control.  But to say that we should abstain from wudhu,  that our women should frollick with ghair mahram males, that our women should prowl around in public place, that Muslim men and women may participate in intermingling of sexes, that Muslims may take the services of sangomas, etc., etc., etc.  because these are all practices encouraged by the rainbow nation, is  the effect of  the deception of shaitaan who has overwhelmed the thinking of even the Ulama of today. May Allah Ta’ala have mercy on this Ummah  which is being led to its  doom by its Ulama.

THE  SHENANIGANS OF

BOGUS  ‘UUCSA’

One of the several BOGUS ‘uucsa’ bodies, fronted  by the dismissed so-called ‘secretary general’, Mr.Yusuf Patel of Middelburg and the Reverend Abraham Bham of the NNB Jamiat masquerading as Jamiatul Ulama South Africa, has issued a grossly misleading statement  which is simply another one of their shenanigans calculated to spread confusion in the Muslim community.

 The allegation of the fraudulent BOGUS entity having been established  in 1994 by some senior Ulama is farcical and absurd. Mr.Patel lists  among the alleged 5  ‘initial’ members two bodies, namely: Sunni Jamiatul Ulama and Sunni Ulama Council. These two entities belong to the Grave-Worshipping sect who have labelled  the other three groups, namely: NNB Jamiat, Jamiatul Ulama KZN and Muslim Judicial Council) as KAAFIR.  Thus, whenever this Bogus ‘uucsa’ has a clandestine meeting,  the Grave-Worshippers abstain from joining the other gang in Salaah.  The occasional meeting which this gang organizes is always in secret.

 The presence of the Grave Worshippers in the unholy alliance with the clique of publicity searchers hungry for leadership, is for monetary gain. Grave-Worshippers are parasites who leech on the community for money. They will strike up relationships with any enemy for gaining money.

 The body, called ‘Council of Ulama Eastern Cape’ consists of a couple of half-baked chancers who are worse than lame-ducks. They are bereft of academic credibility. Their speciality is to hitch rides on just any movement  which promises them some ‘recognition’.  

 The body called “Eastern Cape Islamic Congress’ is a one man outfit which sells ‘halaal’ certificates to even pork-selling outlets. The non-Muslim manager of one prominent supermarket derisively remarked to a brother that ‘your sheikh who comes  sometimes to inspect the premises smells of liquor’.

 In his fraudulent statement on behalf of a non-existing fraudulent ‘uucsa’, the dismissed self-styled ‘secretary general’ mentions his ‘substantial contribution in engagement with Government’. In this statement he has let the cat out of the bag, for he has simply confirmed his craving for leadership, publicity and cheap aggrandizement.  The couple of miscreants who constitute BOGUS  ‘uucsa’ suffer from the obsession of  publicity. Therefore they are  forever hunting for opportunities to engage with the government to sell out the Muslim community. It is for this very reason that this miserable entity of hypocrites performed janaazah salaah for a professed atheist because the latter was a prominent government official.

 This very same BOGUS ‘uucsa’ and NNB Jamiat entities just recently refused to allow a prominent U.K. Aalim the Musaajid platforms for delivering lectures against Shi’ism. They also did not allow him to speak on Shi’ism on their evil radio.

 This miscreant gang posing as representatives of the Muslim community, had attempted for two decades to subvert the Shariah with the Muslim Marriages Bill. Their only objective for  frantically pushing the haraam/kufr MMB is the MONEY. The bait of becoming ‘judges’ in kufr-‘shariah’ courts has intoxicated this evil clique of opportunists. In fact, one sheikh character had specially gone to Malaysia to learn how to become a ‘judge of a shariah court’ as this clique was certain that the bill would be made law soon.

 Regarding Mr.Patel’s explanation about the registration of the name ‘UUCSA”, we are not involved in that matter.  Our UUCSA has not registered its name. Patel is therefore dreaming and dwelling in confusion. He should refer his stupid grievance to the UUCSA which has registered its name.

 UUCSA, not Patel’s fraudulent, paper entity, is the Umbrella Body of the Ulama of South Africa. We reiterate certain facts which Patel has mentioned in his unauthorized statement, and we confirm the correctness of every word:

. “In view of his flagrant rebellion against Authority – the Ulama of UUCSA — the Shuraa Council of UUCSA has relieved Moulana Yusuf Patel of his post, viz., the post of Assistant Secretary of our Middleburg branch. We are therefore compelled to inform the Muslim public that Moulana Patel has been expelled from UUCSA. Any statements which he may issue in our name should be regarded as fraudulent and criminal”

. “UUCSA (United Ulama Council of S.A.) hereby informs the Muslim Ummah of a revision in its former view on the Muslim Marriages Bill (MMB). Formerly, UUCSA, believing that the MMB proposal was in the interests of Muslims, had supported it. However, after in depth research and consultations with a wide variety of Muslim experts, religious and secular, we recognize the dangers to the Shariah posed by MMB. ”

 .“In our view there is no doubt in the fact that all commercially slaughtered chickens are Haraam. It is incumbent on Muslims to abstain from consuming the chickens. It is not permissible for Muslim traders to sell these chickens which are all Haraam. "

 ONCE AGAIN WE REMIND THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY TO BE VIGILANT AND NOT BE FOOLED BY THE FRAUDULENT STATEMENTS ISSUED BY THE CRANK, PATEL WHO HAS BEEN DISMISSED. UUCSA’S BRANCH IN MIDDELBURG HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED DUE TO THE SHENANIGANS OF THE SELF-STYLED ‘SECRETARY GENERAL’ WHO HAS BEEN UNCEREMONIOUSLY KICKED OUT FROM THE ORGANIZATION.

 Mr.Patel who is in the forefront together with Reverend Abraham Bham in the desperate bid to legalize fraudulent‘uucsa’ is the very same Yusuf Patel who had insolently taken his Ustaaz, Mufti A.K.Hoosen to the kuffaar court simply because his Ustaaz had branded him and his carrion bosses (SANHA) as ‘scholars for dollars’. A student who treacherly stabs his Ustaaz in the back is worse than a dog which bites the hand that fed it.

IMPORTANT  CLARIFICATION

THE LAMENTABLE UUCSA DEBACLE

   This IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION has been necessitated by the divisive action of our Middleburg UUCSA branch. Our Assistant Secretary, Moulana Yusuf Patel who is in consultation with some unsavoury elements have deemed it proper to issue in our name (UUCSA) a baseless and false statement under the headline: Fraudulent Use of Name Impersonation and Misrepresentation  Borders on Criminal Action.

  Despite all efforts of the Ulama, senior and junior, to resolve a very unsavoury conflict most demeaning to the status of the Ulama, we have failed to convince Moulana Patel and his clique of the Islamically unlawful path which they are plodding. It pains us now to address this issue in the public domain. Since Moulana Y. Patel has intransigently dragged the matter into the public domain we have no alternative other than issuing this clarification. This dispute should have been resolved sagaciously and honourably behind closed doors at an Ulama Forum. However, all pleas to Moulana Yusuf Patel and his handful of backers have fallen on deaf ears.

   Hitherto, Moulana Yusuf Patel was the Assistant Secretary of our Middleburg branch. Sadly, the desire for leadership has blinded his intelligence. He suddenly, without consulting with the Shuraa of UUCSA, elevated himself to the post of  “Secretary General”. Although UUCSA has no such post, Moulana Patel appropriated this title for himself and designated himself as the “Secretary General” of UUCSA.

   In view of his flagrant rebellion against Authority – the Ulama of UUCSA – the Shuraa Council of UUCSA has relieved Moulana Yusuf Patel of his post, viz., the post of Assistant Secretary of our Middleburg branch. We are therefore compelled to inform the Muslim public that Moulana Patel has been expelled from UUCSA. Any statements which he may issue in our name should be regarded as fraudulent and criminal.

   All correspondence should be directed to our Vandebijlpark contact details as appearing on this letterhead. We have temporarily, until further notice, closed down our Middleburg branch. Any statement emanating in our name from Middleburg should be dismissed as fraudulent.

   We, the UNITED ULAMA COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA, are the only Umbrella Body for the Ulama of South Africa. We profoundly regret the rebellious path adopted by Moulama Y. Patel. We still hope and make dua that he will realize his folly and return obediently to the fold of Haqq.

     We urge responsible members of the Muslim community to write to Moulana Patel offering him sound advice. His error of creating dissension in the ranks of the Ulama should be emphasized.
